Christmas and New Year has come and passed

It’s been a wild few weeks with Christmas and new year celebrations. Of course it was harder sticking to my training routines than I had originally planned, but I’ve got through to now ready for the first big half marathon in four weeks time. So now really is time to pull my finger out and get cracking.

Last week’s KM: 20

Last week’s planned KM: 34

This week’s KM: 36

ITI Journal #10: Further reflection and the Trust model

The trust model is essentially key to the way I would like to think those I work with think about me. Especially in the area of ICT the wrong kind of person can become a bit cocky and maybe even arrogant. I believe this is the biggest fear our other staff have – initially they are predisposed to the idea that “we” know a lot – probably a lot more than they will ever comprehend – hence the fear of technology and/or lack of skills. I believe it is important to proactively convince those around us this is not the case, and indeed we do show the different elements shown in the trust model.

In regards to my peer coaching last semester, I believe I could have been more proactive in getting things done. Time was essentially a large element of why my own progress in this project was limited, and also with clearer actions in the beginning I may be able to claim more success than what I actually do. Having said that, I worked closely with 2 members of staff, and we did complete some smaller-scale elements of peer coaching. I hope to be able to further develop this when we return to school in September.

Podcasting in the classroom – Prequel

Since BETT last weekend, I have certainly been keen to imagine new ideas of how technology can be integrated into my classroom. I’ve begun playing around with recording my own voice (just speaking, mind you!) and have attempted to load up my very first podcast!

I’ve managed to upload it directly on my wiki (another experiment in progress), but am struggling to seamlessly upload here on my blog as well….Does anyone have any advice on how I could get it working simply on this wordpress?

Until I am magically able to put it up here on my blog (if I am ever able to, that is!), a simple link will have to do. So without further ado, please go to and check out my very first podcast!

Nike Plus Running With Me

I’m right into my training to run the London marathon on April 13. Special mention needs to be made to the fantastic Nike Plus system which links the statistics involved with my running activites and my iPod into one system, which then is linked to a recording system on the internet. Here I can track my runs, keep a running total of my runs and average pace, and even set myself running goals.

Here are a few screen shots:

Seeing in 2008 in Sydney

Sydney New Year 2007/8 from LondonI’ve spent the last hour or so seeing in the New Year in Sydney from my very own pad here in London. I’ve been tuned into Sydney radio, in SMS communication with friends and family in Australia and of course the associated links with Facebook and MSN Messenger.

Possibly a little over the top, but it’s interesting to note how the internet and other forms of technology can bring family andc friends closer together, particularly at times such as Christmas and New Year. It’s means I can celebrate “their” new year alongside them, despite being 10 000km away.
